Japanese Language Testing

JLPT

The Japan Language Proficiency Test is the most commonly accepted measuring tool of Japanese language ability. Test sites can be found in many major cities across the Globe. The 2007 test will be administered at multiple locations on Sunday, December 2nd. See this site for the global location nearest you.

See the Japanese Education Exchange and Services homepage for information on the JLPT in Japan (Japanese).

Most major bookstores carry the exam application booklet, which can be purchased for 500yen. Instructions on applying and applicable fees are printed in Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean in the application booklet.

 

BJT

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) offers a Business Japanese Proficiency Test (BJT) each year. The 2007 test dates are Sunday, June 10th (application period: March 7th - April 25th) and Sunday, November 18th (application period: August 8th - October 10th), and are offered in many major cities across the globe. Please see the JETRO homepage for further information on how to apply (7000yen online, 7500yen by mail).
